Fashion designer and part-time pugilist Tommy Hilfiger has defended his alleged punch-up with rock roadkill Axl Rose, insisting he was "just protecting" himself.
Hilfiger, 55, was photographed giving the business to the Guns 'n' Roses frontman at Rosario Dawson's birthday party at a New York nightclub last month.
According to reports, the altercation began when Hilfiger grew annoyed by Rose's attempts to move his girlfriend's drink on a table and told him to put the beverage back.
More than two weeks after the incident, Hilfiger has spoken about the fight to the New York Daily News.
"I'm not a fighter. I was just protecting myself," says Hilfiger. "He was being rude and obnoxious, and I just told him to cool it. I went after him before he could get me. Some people say, 'Good going,' but other people just want to know if I'm all right."
We're sure you're alright, Tommy — it's Axl we're worried about. First, he gets a bunch of bad plastic surgery, then he takes a decade to finish an album and, finally, he gets his ass handed to him by a fashion designer? Sorry Mr. Rose, we think it's time to hand in your motorcycle and bottle of Jack Daniel's; your days as a rocker are over.
